Google will pay a pretty sum of $17million to Federal Trade Commission (FTC) as a penalty for bypassing cookie settings in the Safari browser to track users. This happened when over 37 states and the District of Columbia brought forward this complain.
According to report, this same act happened last year, and Google was fined $22.5 million for same act which FTC believed must have served as a lesson to curb the act but all effort seemed futile as it has happened again.
"From 2011 to 2012, Google used a loophole in Apple's browser that allowed for placing tracking cookies on users' machines without them knowing. The search giant's suffered more than a slap on the wrist, but it's still not admitting wrongdoing".
A spokeswoman said that "Google has taken steps to remove the ad cookies, which collected no personal information, from Apple's browsers."
I hope this can take effect in Nigeria and serve as a lesson to those who think infringing other people's property without their consent is the way to go.
Sorry about that ooo Mr Google you hear..no try that again next time....Lol
